03/11/10 - Harold "Butch" Boers < Back

Harold "Butch" Boers passed away on March 11, 2010 at the age of 85. He was born to John and Ethel (Calkins) Boers on December 11, 1924 in Milford.

Butch attended school and graduated from Milford Community School. On October 4, 1943, he enlisted into the army where he served in World War II in the 13th Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946.

Upon returning home from the service he worked as a carpenter. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Marchand Froendt on August 18, 1972, along with her two children Bill and Lyn. They resided in Milford in the same home that his father had built in 1917, and where he had lived his entire life.

Butch was a member of the Milford American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and he always appreciated a good joke. He also looked forward to watching all sporting events. His favorite football team was, of course, the Minnesota Vikings!!

Butch is survived by his wife Bonnie; Bill (Kim) Froendt of Milford and Lyn (Alan) Hicks of Milford; grandchildren; Natasha (Michael) Ray, Chandell (Mike) Kleckner, Cole Hicks, Jared Ransom and Callie Froendt, and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Junella Vinyard, Boulder, CO and Ruth Thompson, Richmond, VA. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Jack, Marvin and Robert Boers; and two sisters; Alta Jane Van Derwalker and Myrna Rubes.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
