Becky Bea Savard

Becky Savard, 82, of Mesa AZ, formerly of Arnolds Park, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Seven Haven II Assisted Living in Mesa, AZ. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral in Spirit Lake, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com Becky was born on January 28, 1942, to Byrnard “Bud” and Onalee (Strube) Elston in Spirit Lake, IA. She graduated from Arnold Park High School and furthered her education at Estherville Junior College where she earned an Associated Degree. She then attended Willliam Penn University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and later, she attended Morningside College where she earned a master’s degree in education. Becky used her education to teach in Sioux City, Estherville, Arnolds Park and Okoboji Schools. She was married to Joseph W.R. “Ray” Savard on November 17, 1967, in Arnolds Park. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2008. She was later united in marriage to David Simpson on March 26, 2011. Becky was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. She also attended Sunland Village East Chapel in Mesa, AZ. She was a member if Sunland Village East Golf Club where she golfed in the ladies and couples league. She also golfed at the Woodlyn Hills Golf Club in the Iowa Great Lakes region. She was a member of WAVE in Arnolds Park, the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the University of Okoboji Corvette Club. In her free time, Becky enjoyed reading, golfing, spending time with family and friends, corvettes, time at the lake, walking and volunteering. She is survived by her stepdaughter Susan Savard Hensen of Omaha, NE; stepson Raymond J. Savard of Waterloo, NE; stepdaughter Debbie Sagakawa, Denver, CO; stepson Roger Simpson; sister Debra Taylor of Mesa, AZ; Sister Barbara (Jerry Fagen) Carstens of Arnolds Park, IA; cousins Camilla (Ronald D.) Svoboda of Lincoln, NE; and Janet (Roger) Ehlers of Lincoln, NE; nieces Amanda Garcia and Dana Carstens and nephew Kirt Carstens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, parents, and her stepfather George Whitfield.
