Patricia Fedders

Patricia Fedders, 75, of Milford passed away peacefully in her home as she wished on August 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18 at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Patricia Ann Ver Steeg Fedders was born on January 14, 1943 in Orange City, IA to Laurence and Sadie (Popma) Ver Steeg. She graduated from high school in Orange City in 1961 and earned her nursing degree from the Sioux City School of Nursing in 1964. She was united in marriage to Don Fedders on May 24, 1963 in Orange City, IA. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Don Fedders of Milford; son Dan (Pam) Fedders of Yankton, SD and their children Emily, Ellison and Sadie; son Greg (Penny) Fedders of Monroe, WI and their children Will and fiancé Kalyn and Elizabeth; daughter Teresa (David) Rutledge of Council Bluffs, IA and their children Ainsley, Garret and Brooklynn; sister Wanda Kuiken of Maurice, IA; sister Irma Beukelman of Madison, SD; brother Bus Ver Steeg of Orange City, IA; sister Shirley (Marty) Wierda of Sioux Center, IA; sister Eva (Ike) Huizenga of Orange City, IA; brother Larry (Jane) Ver Steeg of Hawarden, IA; brother Stan Ver Steeg of Orange City, IA; sister Nancy (Dave) Vellinga of West Des Moines, IA and sister Muriel Palsrock of Sibley, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Bud Kuiken, brother-in-law Red Beukelman and her sister-in-law Alice Ver Steeg. In all of Patty’s roles in this life...wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, friend, Christian…she did them all in love. Patty had a deep love for all humanity, and truly believed that everyone deserves to be treated with the upmost love and respect. She had a caregivers’ spirit, so nursing was the field that she chose. Helping others was so much a part of her, it was like breathing. Patty loved to volunteer for others in any way that she could. She was involved in many clubs dear to her heart, and all of them gave her an outlet to help others. Hospice was something that truly meant the world to her. She loved the work of comforting families while they walked through this end-of-life journey. Patty was chosen as the Iowa Hospice volunteer of the year which she certainly earned. In everything she did, Patty was a true example of how to walk through life. For friends and family, she was a very trusted mentor. Patty traveled the world on numerous mission trips to help others and to spread God’s love. She was an avid reader and a lover of books, especially signed by the author. Patty had a passion for photography, and loved documenting memories for others. For her husband (the love of her life), family and God, Patty had an unwavering love...especially for her sweet “grands.” She gave all of us the greatest gift, a true example of a life well lived. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made in Patty’s name to the MOC Floyd Valley Foundation Pat Ver Steeg Fedders Scholarship Fund sent to Don Fedders, 2601 Gull Point Place, Milforld, IA, 51351 or to the Iowa ALS Association.
