Lucille Murray Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lucille “Lucy” Murray, 86, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Laurens, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Cherokee in Cherokee, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, IA. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be held in the Laurens City Cemetery in Laurens, IA. Lucy was born on February 1, 1936, to Alfred and Anna (Rimsky) Zappa. In 1956 she enlisted in the US Navy and served 3 years. She was united in marriage to Lyle Murray on April 4, 1959, in Astoria, OR. They lived in San Diego, CA until 1961, when they moved to Laurens, IA. Lucy was the Bookkeeper for Murray Sanitation for 17 years. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, swimming, playing cards, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Left to cherish her memory are her 4 daughters, Lisa Morgan of Guntersville, AL; Lynn (Clair) Thorson of Cherokee, IA; Linda (Steve) North of St. Louis, MO; and Leslie Kinney of Laurens, IA; 11 grandkids, and 24 great grandkids; her sister Phyllis Treckie and brother John Zappa. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Murray, her parents, 2 sisters, Kathleen Donatelli and Freda Zappa, brother Anthony Zappa, son-in-law John Kinney and 2 great grandsons, Peyton Murray and Luke Holdorf.
