Marilyn J. Wegelin

August 20, 1933 - February 26, 2019

Marilyn J. Wegelin, 85, of Okoboji passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at her home.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Marilyn was born on August 20, 1933 to Carl and Gladyce (Braun) Gunderson in Stanley, WI. She graduated from high school in Mankato, MN and attended Technical College studying transportation graduating in 1952. She was married to Robert Wegelin on December 31, 1955 in Denver, CO. She was self-employed owning and operating the family Hardware Store in Marengo, IL, retiring in June of 2001. Marilyn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake where she was an active member and enjoyed being involved in many different organizations in the church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, singing in the church choir, volunteering at the hospital and was a talented cook. She was very family oriented and took pride in taking good care of Bob. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bob Wegelin of Okoboji; daughter Lori (Jim) Rugh of Milford; son Mark (Debra) Wegelin of Spirit Lake; and daughter Kathy (Michael) Cervony of Waconia, MN; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother. Memorials may be designated to Lakes Regional Hospice or Lakes Regional Women’s Auxiliary.
