Roberta Carlson

February 19, 1925 - November 13, 2016

Funeral services for 91 year old Roberta Carlson of Spirit Lake will be 10:30 AM on Monday November 21st at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be 4 – 6 pm on Sunday November 20th at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Roberta Jean Aggen Carlson, daughter of George and Ella (Meester) Aggen entered her earthly home on February 19, 1925 and entered her Heavenly home on November 13, 2016. She was born on a farm near Adrian, MN and joined her older sister, Bernice. Upon graduating from Worthington High School, she fell in love with a handsome Marine named Keith Carlson. They were married August 13, 1943 in West Palm Beach, FL. After residing in the Minneapolis area, they moved to Spirit Lake, IA where they raised their three children, Pam, Dan and Sue. Working as a team, Keith and Roberta owned and operated the A & C Farm Store. Roberta enjoyed golf, having coffee with friends on Thursday mornings, and family activities. She was called “Cookie Gram” by some of her grandchildren and the baker of the best brownies this side of the Mississippi. In her later years, Roberta was willing to share her opinions on sports and politics. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake serving as Deacon, circle leader and Sunday school teacher. Roberta was also a member of TTT Society, Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Left to carry on her legacy of faith, family, friends and fun are children Pam (Harold) Grems of Mankato MN, Dan (Kathy) Carlson of Sioux Falls SD and Sue (Emil) Richter of Milford IA. Grandchildren Malia (Mark) Hedlund of Mankato MN, Megan Sayre of Andover KS, Kim (Brian) Easland of Norfolk NE, Chris (Robin) Carlson of Sioux Falls SD, Brian (Ashley) Richter of Milford IA and Jenna (Will) Dible of Okoboji IA. Great grandchildren Lydia Hedlund, Levi Sayre, Colin Sayre, Gannon Easland, Taylor Easland, Henlee Carlson, Harper Carlson, Hollen Carlson and Mason Dible. She is also survived by her aunt Rose Meester of Ellsworth MN as well as many nieces and nephews. Passing prior to Roberta were her husband Keith Carlson, special friend of 20 years Blaine Hoien, parents George (Ope) and Ella (Ome) Aggen, sister and brother-in-law Bernice (B) and Nels Ellsworth. Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, TTT Society and Homestead Memorial Fund.
