Ronald Hansen

Ronald Hansen, age 65, of Spirit Lake died on July 6, 2016 at the Solara Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:30 AM on Thursday July 14th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be in St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM on Wednesday at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Ronald Eugene Hansen, the son of Andrew and Winifred Charlotte (Anderson) Hansen, was born on October 19, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1969. On September 4, 1971 Ron was united in marriage with Donna Marie Bierstedt at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Fonda, Iowa. He had worked as an Implement Parts Manager for 20 years and then customer service at the Lube Center and Bomgaars in Spirit Lake. Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a fan of NASCAR, specifically the Earnhardt’s and enjoyed Classic Cars, Car Shows, and 60’s music. Overall, Ron loved people and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his children, Lisa Hansen, of Chesterfield, VA and Mike (Tara) Hansen, of Doon, IA; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Michael, Landon, Shawn, and Gabe; one great-grandchild, Nevaeh; two sisters, Fran (Danny) Foxhoven of Weslaco, TX and Laurie Miller of Turlock, CA; a brother, Andrew (Sherry) Hansen of Bellefontaine, OH; and a father-in-law, Don Bierstedt of Wahpeton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna in 2016; mother-in-law, Marilyn Bierstedt; a sister-in-law, Jane Bierstedt; a brother-in-law, Raymond Bierstedt; and a niece, Anne Birt.
