Terry Wendelboe

June 6, 1939 - June 3, 2019

Terry Wendelboe passed away peacefully in his home with his loved ones by his side, on June 3, 2019, three days shy of his 80th birthday. As per his request, there are no formal services planned. A private family memorial is planned for a later date. Terry Daryl Wendelboe was born on June 6, 1939, to Clifford and Evelyn (Tobin) Wendelboe in Mitchell SD. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Air Force, spending two years in Japan at Johnson's Airforce Base, where he went to special services every summer, teaching water safety to service family members, life guarding, and competing on behalf of the American Red Cross in swim meets. He returned stateside in 1959 to Larson Airforce base in Moses Lake, WA. He was united in marriage to Lila Nulle on August 20, 1960. After separation from the service in 1961, he returned to Alexandria, SD, to farm with his father, Clifford. After three years, he enrolled in The Medical Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, MN, earning his certificates in both laboratory and x-ray technology. His worked in this field for thirty-seven years. Terry enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed nature and spending time exploring and sharing knowledge. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle, boating with his family, and teaching his grandchildren to blow bubbles in the hot tub. He was an excellent woodworker and made a hobby/business of refinishing antique furniture. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Lila Wendelboe, his son Bradley (Angela) Wendelboe and granddaughter Kendra Wendelboe and grandson Zachary Wendelboe, his daughter, Amy Gathercole and granddaughter Tabitha Wendelboe and grandsons Sam and Sage Gathercole, his sisters Sharon Vosika and Cynthia Folkerts, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Evelyn Wendelboe, and his brothers-in-law Lyle Vosika and Paul Folkerts.
