Claudia Rapp

Claudia Rapp, 73, of Terril, passed away on July 10, 2023, at her home in Terril. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 29 at Claudia's Home from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. The family request that you bring a lawn chair. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com Claudia was born on August 16, 1949, to Charley and Kathryn (Haviland) Bergeson in Estherville, Iowa. She graduated from Terril High School, and studied Fine Arts, ultimately completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa. She was subsequently Certified as an expert Emergency Department nurse. She worked in nursing for over 40 years, and most recently worked as the Post Mistress for the Terril Post Office. She was united in marriage to Doug Rapp on January 8, 1977, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril, and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2021. Claudia was talented in many areas, and she enjoyed reading, singing with Doug and working on her many crafts - glass engraving, crocheting, and many others. She and Doug kept a large garden of vegetables and flowers, using seeds collected from the previous year. They both thrived on a life outdoors, but she also kept up with seasonal decorations indoors, many of which she made herself. Claudia was with her beloved dogs in her last days, two in a long line of cherished pets, including horses, cats, birds, and fish as well as dogs. But Claudia was lost without her soul mate Doug. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Bergeson) Shaw of Milton, Florida, her brother Clifford (Nancy) Bergeson of Port Townsend, Washington, sister-in-law Kim (Dennie) Storey of Ruthven, and brother-in-law John (Jackie) Rapp of Estherville, as well as many nieces and nephews including Deborah (Clayton) Stockdale, Beth (Ed) Gerlach, Patricia (Shaw) Kimmons, Michael (Susan) Shaw, and Sheryl (Tom) Greer, Bruce (LaVanda) Bergeson, Dawn Bergeson, Tamera (Jeff) Veldhuizen, Sara Bergeson, and Kelsey Bergeson, in addition to their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Doug, her parents, and her brother Bernard Bergeson.
