Denis Conway Kelleher

Denis Conway Kelleher, 80, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday June 10Th at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake. There will be a celebration of Denny’s life held at a later date in the lakes area and in Phoenix, AZ. The Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com Denis was born on May 25th, 1943, in Fort Dodge Iowa to parents Elizabeth and John Kelleher. He was one of five children, Travis, Molly, Patricia (deceased) and Kathleen (deceased). Denny has had many great achievements in his 80 years. He graduated ASU in 1970, married in 1972, became a father in 1975 and again in ‘78, ‘80, & '83. In 2005 he finally retired from Honeywell after a stellar 42-year run. One of his greatest accomplishments came when he fulfilled a lifelong dream of purchasing his grandfather’s lake house on Dixon Beach in Okoboji, Iowa with his fiancé Diane. Denny and Diane’s home on Dixon beach was filled with love and laughter with family and friends. He loved talking about classic cars and boats, jamming to Creedence tapes, drinks on the dock, and cruising the shores of West Lake Okoboji where he was quite the historian of all the lake homes. He could even tell you when the shutters on the homes were last painted. Diane and Denny enjoyed traveling and it was highlighted with several trips to Arizona and Colorado to visit family and friends and several trips to Maui with Diane‘s daughter and family and the celebration of their 10th anniversary in Paris He leaves behind his 4 adult children, Mike Kelleher, Ryan (Victoria) Kelleher, Tim Kelleher, Denise (Dustin) Murphy, the mother of his children, Nancy Kelleher, as well as his 3 grandchildren, Ashlyn Kelleher, Dylan Murphy, and Sammy Kelleher. He also survived by his fiancée Diane Ringhofer and her two daughters, Julie Ringhofer and her special friend, Roger Duerksen, Okoboji, IA, and Jackie Snell, Mankato, MN, and her children, Hallie Snell and her fiancée Andrew Wilkening and Hunter Snell, all of Denver, CO. Denny loved Diane‘s children and grandchildren as if they were his own. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him! The family would like to thank all the members of the Accura Healthcare team of Spirit Lake and the members of the Lakes Regional Hospice, for their warm and loving care of Denny!
