Our History

Chad and Jennifer Schuchert built the Schuchert Funeral Home in 1999 to serve the Lakes area. In 2014, they sold the funeral home and crematory to Jayme and Melissa Lentz.  When Chad and Jennifer moved to California in June 2016, Korey and Kerri Robinson partnered with Jayme and Melissa as owners of Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home and Crematory.  On September 20, 2022, Korey and Kerri Robinson became the sole owners of the funeral home and renamed it to the Robinson Funeral Home.  Our funeral directors and staff have been helping families at one of the most difficult times in their lives.   • Korey Robinson

    Korey Robinson, Owner / Funeral Director

    Korey was raised in Manchester, Iowa, where he began working in funeral service at the age of 16 with Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home. He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1997 and attended Kirkwood Community College while continuing to work for Murdoch Funeral Homes in Cedar Rapids and Marion. He earned his Associate of Applied Science and Mortuary Science degrees from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois, graduating in 2000.Korey completed his apprenticeship in Clarinda, Iowa, and joined Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton in 2001. In 2006, he became part of Meyer Brothers Funeral Home in Sioux City. On September 1, 2016, Korey and his wife, Kerri, became partners and co-owners of Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home. On September 20, 2022, they purchased the funeral home in full and renamed it Robinson Funeral Home.Korey is a licensed funeral director in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and South Dakota. He is an active member of the Spirit Lake Noon Kiwanis, St. Mary’s Catholic Church (where he serves with the Knights of Columbus and on the church finance committee), and is a board member of the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce.He married Kerri Brown of Clarinda in 2003, and they have three sons: Spencer, Tyson, and Jasper. In his free time, Korey enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, camping with his family, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals.

  • Kerri L Robinson

    Kerri L Robinson, Owner

    Kerri is a 1999 graduate of Clarinda High School. She is married to Korey Robinson, and together they have three sons. In 2022, Kerri and Korey became the owners of Robinson Funeral Home.Kerri works as a nurse at Lakes Regional Family Medicine.

  • Spencer D Robinson

    Spencer D Robinson, Funeral Directors Assistant / Removal Tech

    Spencer is a 2023 graduate of Spirit Lake High School. He recently earned a business degree from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny and will begin mortuary school at DMACC in the fall of 2025.Spencer currently works as a funeral director’s assistant and removal technician with Iles Funeral Home in the Des Moines area, as well as with Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. He plans to join the family funeral home full-time upon graduating from mortuary school in 2026.In his free time, Spencer enjoys hunting, golfing, and watching sports.

  • Jim Fliss

    Jim Fliss, Funeral Director Assistant

    Jim is a 1964 graduate of Spirit Lake High School. Following graduation, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville for two years. He is married to Peg Fliss of Alta, a former educator with Spirit Lake Schools. Together, they have four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.Jim worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years as both a carrier and a clerk. In 2002, he began working at Schuchert Funeral Home, later continuing with Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home, and in 2022, he transitioned to Robinson Funeral Home.A lifelong resident of the area, Jim lives on his family farm. He enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time on the lake.

  • Ed Hansen

    Ed Hansen, Funeral Director

    Ed is a 1969 graduate of Holstein High School. He went on to earn his degree from Morningside College, followed by a mortuary science degree from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Ed owned and operated funeral homes in Lakefield and Heron Lake, Minnesota, before retiring and relocating to Spirit Lake in 2009.After moving to Spirit Lake, Ed began working with Schuchert Funeral Home, later continuing with Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home, and transitioned to Robinson Funeral Home in 2022.Ed has four children and seven grandchildren. He is an active member of the Twilight Masonic Lodge, Golden K Kiwanis, and the United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoys visiting his children and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
